I have to ask: why a people should be – She? I don't say it's not correct, no; on the contrary, it's very intriguing, inspiring. But, why? And – let's quote Sir Lawrence and Rabbi Dustin – is it safe?

1) Yes, earth is in the Bible references... It's earth, not world.

2) Ancient primal myth is fine – only there shouldn't be this dash between primal and myth.

3) Enumerated is valid, absolutely. The option listed looks somewhat modern, but it's also more neutral, less mathematical. Itemized is too businesslike, particularized is too statistical or scientific.

4) ... and whose end is still to be conceived... – great solution, shouldn't be changed.
Basically we are following Pekic's lead here and are cutting out the "people of" part from Israel; but of course continuing with the meaning of "the people of"... so, Israel as a nation is a 'She' and we thought of going with that instead of 'They', which of course would have been more accurate given the aforementioned "people of" connotation.

Or, it evokes something like the giant she-spider Shelob in The Lord of the Rings. Something like an outlaw goddess, a dark greatness... That's a little bit scary... If I said to myself, for instance: I love my people, my people are so proud, She is so faithful to Her traditions, She is so brave while defending Her identity – I guess I'd get a bit scared of my own thoughts, eh?"
